July 2008 - Albacore Bonanza

This year’s Albacore season opened with a bang. After last year’s relatively poor season due low fish stocks and short season this year seems to be making up for all of that. From the start we have had very successful trips with fish ranging from 4 up to 10 kilo with the average fish scaling 6/7 kilos.

We have also hade numerous times multiple strikes during fishing action showing that the shoals are consistent and the fish are hungry and can’t wait to snatch the bait as soon as it passes over their heads.

Let’s just hope that the albacore will hang around as much as possible this year in order to enjoy some excellent sport a great days out fishing.

September 2004 - Juniors Sport Fishing Competition

In the month of July 2004 the first Juniors sport fishing competition was organized by the "Ghaqda Sajjieda Dilettanti" in fishing Village of St. Paul’s Bay and the event was sponsored by Aquatica Tackle Shop. A good number of young fishing enthusiasts attended for this event giving proof of the growing interest in sport fishing among the younger generation.

The match took place along the St. Paul’s Bay sea promenade and lasted three hours. The main species caught was Bouge and many of the participants managed to land a good number of fish. At the end of the three hours the fish of each angler where weighted and the winner resulted in Stephen Camilleri with over 2 kilos of fish.

All participants were rewarded price and first three placing were also presented with trophies.
